Speeding endangers everyone on the road. Two-thirds of all traffic fatalities involve behaviors commonly associated with aggressive driving. Although speeding is the most common behavior, anything that places other people, vehicles, or property at risk is considered aggressive driving. Most actions connected with aggressive driving are illegal.1

Data released from the Iowa State Patrol, tracking speeding violations from January 1 through June 10, 2020, revealed 1,635 drivers exceeded the speed limit by 25 mph or more, a 65% increase compared to the previous four-year average. Citations for these speeds in the months of April and May alone totaled 912 compared to 764 violations for the three previous months.

In 2018, speeding killed over 9,378 people...accounting for 26% of all traffic fatalities in 2018.1
